Street Music - McMaster and Main

Greytown is the place to be for free music and entertainment this Wellington Anniversary Weekend, 23-25 January 2010.
An open air ‘piazza’ is being created alongside the Greytown Town Hall for performances from 11am on Saturday and Sunday, including well-known African musician Sam Manzanza, the Cajun influenced group Grits & Gumbo, Celtic rockers Jacky Tar, and Jewish folk music ensemble Klezmer Rebs.

There’s a Featherston connection as the Featherston Gentlemen Singers take to the stage, and Rupert Watson will be ‘exploring a world of sound’ music with wind instruments and tuned percussion with friend David Kaetz, in an act called ‘Making Connections’. Well known Wairarapa musician Pat McKenna will also be performing on the Saturday.

Keen drummers can join Sam Manzanza for a drumming session on the Saturday at 2:00pm in Stella Bull Park, while anyone with a ukulele can join in the Ukulele Rules! jam session at the outdoor Town Hall stage. Organisers of this session — Trish Webster and Juanita McLellon — are running two optional practice sessions: Sat 16 Jan, 11am & Wed 20 Jan, 7pm at the Kuranui College auditorium.
